Can You Buy Moringa Powder in Australia?
Can you buy moringa powder in Australia? As a food, not at the moment: moringa leaf has not been approved for sale as a food here.
Can you buy moringa powder in Australia: the short answer
Why we are not selling moringa powder right now
Moringa leaf is classed as a novel food in Australia, which means it needs approval before it can be sold as a food. Food Standards Australia New Zealand did not approve the application (A1294) in November 2025, and since March 2026 moringa leaf imported as a food has been held at the border under import notice IFN 05-26. That means it cannot currently be sold here as a food, so we stopped rather than work around it. This is about its approval status under food law. It is not a comment on any batch, and not a claim about what moringa does.
What a novel food is
In Australia and New Zealand, a novel food is one without a history of traditional use in the food supply here. Before a novel food can be sold, Food Standards Australia New Zealand assesses an application and, if it approves, the food is added to the Food Standards Code. Until then, it cannot be sold as a food.
Is this permanent?
Not by definition. Approval status can change if a new application is made and approved. We cannot say whether or when that will happen.
What we did
We stopped selling moringa powder. If we can offer it again, the waitlist will hear first.
